The mission of Attachment Healing Ministry (AHM) is to provide education, treatment, support, and prevention services to the community and to children and families who have experienced attachment injuries.
What is Attachment?
Attachment is not just the proximal relation between two people, but an “emotional bond” that babies and children form with their primary caregivers. This emotional bond is critically important for a child to develop a secure base, which includes proximity maintenance, exploration, and maintaining separation distress.
Why is building a secure attachment important?
Building a secure attachment is critical for a child’s healthy emotional development. Over the years, numerous studies have been conducted and revealed the long-term effects of early attachment relationships and their impact, not only on child development but throughout life.
Research confirms that when a child experiences insecure attachment relationships with a caregiver, the child faces significant barriers to healthy emotional development and academic success.
